The Story Behind P. Arbusoff Putters
About us
Pat “Arbusoff” Ahosilta began building golf clubs in 2018. He is a certified club builder and fitter, having completed the prestigious “Diamond Golf Academy” course in Arundel, West Sussex, just south of London, in 2018.
Since then, he has worked on all kinds of club-related projects, from simple grip changes to more demanding builds—eventually focusing on putters. The idea of an own putter brand was born in 2023 when he installed a “premium” driver shaft into a putter. It looked great—but was completely unusable for actual putting due to its characteristics. Still, the spark was lit, and that idea has since evolved into a full-fledged putter line.
Pat’s passion for stylish sports gear, however, goes much further back—to the late 1980s and ice-hockey sticks. One early memory is of KalPa’s legend Esa “Essi” Välioja and his unique way of taping his blade. A stick gifted by Essi, with its iconic stripe tape, left a lasting impression. While Pat himself only played in the lower divisions, he was always meticulous about his sticks. More meticulous than anyone else. They had to be highest quality, stylish, and built to exact specifications.
Pat might well be the only Division-2 player to have had his own blade molds with the big brands such as Montreal, Warrior, Bauer, and CCM.
Now, Pat has brought that same level of passion into his putter line—where both style and substance are paramount. Every detail is carefully considered and crafted. Each Arbusoff that makes it onto the green is a symbol of quality and refinement.
The name “Arbusoff” comes from Pat’s ancestral surname, which his grandparents once changed to Ahosilta. Now, that original name is back—ready to make history on the putting greens.
P.S. Pat’s ice-hockey blade pattern was originally inspired and modified from NHL legend Kimmo “Kime” Timonen’s Louisville stick. Kime, in turn, had based his blade pattern on Ilves icon Raimo Helminen. Coincidentally, Raimo Helminen and Esa Välioja happen to be cousins.
The original inspiration for the “Arbusoff” putters lies in those legendary ice-hockey sticks—and the people behind them. How about Essi’s style? It just might have had a subtle influence on the visual identity of the entire Arbusoff brand👨🏻
